Centra raised more than $31,500 to help 315 local children and families in need have a brighter Christmas. As in the past, Centra Team Members collected donations in their branches for about two weeks to help support the Centra Holiday Giving Program. The money collected was donated to non-profit organizations as listed below:

Salvation Army Columbus Corp – $3,047
Shop with a Cop Columbus – $3,047
Salvation Army – Indianapolis – $527
Salvation Army New Albany Corp – $9,028
Good Samaritan Food Pantry In North Vernon – $4,359
Cops and Kids Jackson County – Seymour – $6,881
Shop with a Cop Decatur County- Greensburg – $946
Salvation Army Shelbyville – $2,134
Salvation Army Madison – $1,534

Jackson County Cops and Kids Program leader, CJ Foster, said that Centra’s donation of $6,881 would give 50 children a warm holiday meal, necessities such as shoes and clothes and a toy for Christmas. Ginger Miller, Executive Director at The Good Samaritan Food Pantry in North Vernon, said they were going to have to start turning people away, but thanks to Centra’s donation of $4,259, they could help every child who applied for assistance this year!

We are so thankful to be able to support these nine organizations this year and to provide a brighter, happier Christmas for many in our communities. Thank you for helping The Centra Foundation make this possible!

The Centra Foundation is the charitable arm of Centra Credit Union and was formed to extend the Credit Union mission of People Helping People.
