Service

Centra was founded on a principle of “People Helping People” and our Team Members still live by that mantra each day. We live out our mantra in many ways, one of which is fair and transparent pricing. When you bank with Centra, you will never be surprised by fees and you will have access to the most competitive rates and pricing in the market. At Centra, you can expect to work with friendly, local Team Members who truly care about you and your financial wellbeing first and foremost.

Community

Centra’s mantra of “People Helping People” carries over from business to philanthropy. Each year, Centra donates hundreds of thousands of dollars to local organizations that work in the Communities Centra serves. Additionally, Team Members receive three days of family and community time each year, which they are encouraged to use for volunteer efforts within their own communities.

Our History

More than 80 years ago, our credit union got its start in Columbus, IN, when 8 employees of the Cummins Engine Company founded the Cummins Employees Federal Credit Union. Their goal: to identify a source of low-cost credit and a convenient place to save their hard-earned money. At their first organizational meeting, these employees set Credit Union policies such as a maximum deposit of $7.50 per week and an unsecured loan limit of $25. A charter was granted to the Credit Union on October 31, 1940.

In 1995, we changed our name to Centra Federal Credit Union to reflect our organization’s growth and diversity. The credit union became state-chartered in 1997 and is known today as Centra Credit Union.
