2025 Board and Supervisory Committee Nominees

Each year, according to our bylaws, a Nominating Committee presents a slate of candidates to fill the Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee. The following individuals have been nominated to serve.

Board of Directors

Aida Ramirez headshot

Aida J. Ramírez is the Director of the Columbus Human Rights Commission, with nearly 15 years of experience as a Hoosier civil servant. Prior to her role with the City of Columbus, she collaborated with judicial officers in Marion County to spearhead initiatives aimed at increasing access to justice. This included development of uniform court forms, translation of materials for limited-English proficient individuals, and expanding access to free court interpreters. Aida earned her Juris Doctor (JD) from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Purdue University. She’s actively engaged in equity-based work in the community, currently serving on the boards of the Heritage Fund Community Foundation and the African American Fund of Bartholomew County.

James (Jim) D. Turner is a retired business executive from Duke Energy and Bartholomew County REMC. His most recent position was CEO & General Manager of REMC. Prior, he served in various management positions at PSI Energy, CINERGY, and Duke Energy in multiple communities across the state of Indiana over a 30-year career. Jim has extensive experience in several community service organizations spanning his 40+ years in the electric utility industry. He has held leadership roles in various community organizations such as United Way of Bartholomew County, Columbus Economic Development Board, Columbus Rotary Club, Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce, AJGA Executive Committee, and Columbus Area Sports Advisory council to name a few. Jim has a Bachelor of Science degree in management and marketing from Indiana University. He currently works as a business consultant for Mytra Consulting. Jim is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys golfing and managing his tree farm. Jim has two grown sons, Lucas and Bryce, who live and work in Columbus, Indiana.

Randall Proffitt

Randall (Randy) Proffitt is Vice Chancellor for Recruitment, Marketing, and Communications for the Columbus service area of Ivy Tech Community College, where he has also held the positions of Vice Chancellor for Enrollment, Interim Dean of Student Affairs, and Executive Director of Marketing and Communications. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism from Ball State University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Indiana University. Randy has served on several statewide committees for Ivy Tech Community College and has earned recognition by the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations for his work with the college. A lifelong resident of Columbus, he’s a former member of the Foundation for Youth board of directors, mayor’s advisory council, Columbus Chamber local government task force, and a volunteer coach of several youth sports teams. Randy currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors at Centra Credit Union.

Kesavan Venugopal

Kesavan Venugopal. With more than 30 years of impactful experience in IT leadership and strategic technology transformation, Kesavan currently serves as a Sr. Digital Transformation Consultant at Cognito Science LLC. He implements and oversees strategic technological initiatives that align with business goals, deliver innovative solutions, and ensure seamless cross-functional collaboration. Prior to Cognito Science LLC, Kesavan held key leadership roles at Cummins Inc. As Sr. Software Engineering Director for Cummins Digital Organization, he provided visionary leadership, driving the adoption of cutting-edge technology solutions and fostering high-performing teams. Kesavan holds an MBA from the University of Notre Dame and a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Mysore. In addition, he has professional certification in Six Sigma process improvement methodology, software product development, enterprise solution design and implementation, and IT best practices. Kesavan currently serves on the Board of Directors at Centra Credit Union.

Supervisory Committee

Michael Fleetwood is a CPA and Director at Blue & Co., LLC where he serves as the southern Indiana practice’s Director-in-Charge. Since joining the firm in 1989, Mike has provided many clients with audit and advisory services and led the firm’s quality control and information technology committees. Mike’s primary focus is serving agricultural cooperatives across the Midwest, as well as manufacturers, contractors, and other closely held companies. He earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Indiana University. Mike currently serves on the Finance Committee of the Community Foundation of Jackson County and has previously served on the boards of various other non-profit organizations.

Nominations for the Board of Directors may also be made through petition. The petition must contain signatures and account numbers of a minimum of 5% of the total Membership. As of November 30, 2024, Centra has 187,438 Members. Valid petitions must be filed with the Secretary of the Board of Directors prior to March 13, 2025. Written statements of qualifications, biographical information, and willingness to serve if elected must accompany all petitions. The Annual Meeting will be held at Centra’s corporate headquarters located at 3801 Tupelo Drive in Columbus, Indiana on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 3:00pm.
