Centra Named Business of the Year
COLUMBUS, IN – Centra Credit Union was named Business of the Year for companies with 51 or more employees by the One Southern Indiana Chamber of Commerce. The announcement was made at the annual ONE awards. Centra earned the prestigious recognition based on its 75-year history of serving Central and Southern Indiana.
“It’s truly an honor to be recognized,” said Interim President Chris Bottorff. “It’s really a testament to our members for supporting us and our employees for their dedication to serving our members.”
Centra earned the award based on its community involvement, business growth, history, mission, and overall commitment to serving the area. In 2015, Centra’s Southern Region alone contributed more than $25,000 in donations and sponsorships to dozens of local organizations. Employees spent hundreds of hours volunteering in local schools and with local non-profits. In addition, Centra has continued to expand its presence in Southern Indiana by opening its newest branch in the River Ridge Commerce Center in Jeffersonville, Indiana. With the new location, Centra now employs more than 300 people throughout Indiana.
The Business of the Year award is a perfect capstone to Centra’s 75th year in business, which was celebrated throughout 2015. As a not-for-profit financial institution, Centra exists solely to serve its members. Profits are returned to members in the form of lower loan rates and fees, higher returns on savings, and newer and better technology services.
