July 2023: A letter from the President
Dear Members,
In my last letter, I shared that our Charlestown location had opened at the end of April. Today I’m happy to share that we celebrated our grand opening in June, and I’d like to thank the mayor, town council, One Southern Indiana, and the entire Charlestown community for their support. Our Corydon location also opened this month. These new locations support our vision of creating value for our Members, Team Members, and the Communities we serve.
We also support our vision by investing in our Team Members, which in turn creates value for you and all our Members. Over the last few years, Members have turned to technology more than ever to conduct their banking. With these convenient options, our Team Members have the opportunity to better serve our Members by going beyond simple transactions and engaging with them to help plan for their financial futures. As technology continues to evolve, Centra is committed to supporting the development of our Team Members through leadership development, coaching, and training.
Another way we serve our Members is by enhancing our products and services. At the end of May, we made some adjustments to give Members their direct deposit one day early, if the payment information is available from their employer. Members with a direct deposit to their checking or savings account are automatically signed up, so they can access their money faster.
In order to create value in all these ways, Centra must act responsibly and remain a financially strong credit union. In my last letter, I shared that we’d once again received a five-star rating from Bauer Financial. Afterwards, I got a little curious and wanted to know exactly how long we’d been receiving 5-star ratings.
With a little research, I found Centra has earned this rating consecutively since 1995. That means we have maintained a high level of safety and soundness through a variety of economic cycles. At Centra, we value the opportunity to provide stability and security to our Members.
