Increasing your Financial IQ

Valentine’s Day is All About YOU!

You deserve a day for yourself whether you’re single, in a relationship, married, or anything in between. Stay home, stay safe, and celebrate YOU. This could be done in a number of ways on your own, with your significant other, or for the entire family, but keeping it simple will minimize any stress. After the past year, we all deserve some time for ourselves. Truly take the time to love yourself on February 14 with these fun ideas. No reservations required!

Dip Everything in Chocolate

Who loves fondue? Using a fondue pot can feel fancy, but there’s no need to buy another appliance. You can just heat up some melting chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl or in a pan over the stove using the instructions on the box. Dip your favorites, like strawberries, pound cake, cookies, or anything else your heart desires.

Relax with a Movie Marathon

A movie night with just one movie on the menu isn’t special! Give yourself permission to watch a series of movies like Harry Potter, Star Wars, Toy Story, or Shrek. You could also start with a love story from Nicholas Sparks’ collection, then go for a comedy to lighten the mood, and finish up with a thriller like Die Hard. Your night is about your favorites, so get some snacks, pop some popcorn, or toss in some candy. If you’re typically not a night owl, there’s also no shame in grabbing a blanket and pillow.

Brighten Someone Else’s Day

Do you know someone who has recently lost a significant other? A small gift on Valentine’s Day means a lot and might make you feel good as well. Gift ideas include:

  • a gift basket with tea, coffee, or other goodies
  • a promise of time spent together (e.g., movie tickets for the two of you)
  • flowers
  • homemade cookies or other treats

Pamper Yourself

Give yourself the VIP treatment at home with a long hot bath, a charcoal mask, lavender candles, and a glass of wine. If your family will be joining you on Valentine’s Day, you can switch it up and enjoy a spa-at-home day together. Every kid might not love bath time, but they might if they have their favorite bath toy and some bubbles!
