When there’s a lot going on in the world, the last thing you should have to worry about is your financial partner, so we wanted to assure you that as one of the top 200 Safest Credit Unions, we have your back!
Not only is Centra a financially strong credit union, but we are also federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration. The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) is an independent agency of the United States government that regulates, charters, and supervises federal credit unions.
The NCUA also oversees the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), which insures Members’ deposits at federally-insured credit unions, like Centra. Since the NCUSIF insures up to $250,000 in deposits for a Member’s single ownership accounts, federally insured credit unions offer a safe place for Members to save money. You can learn more about what it means to be federally insured with this brochure from the NCUA.
Unfortunately, in times of uncertainty and stress, scam artists often try to prey on those with the best intentions, sometimes using fear or even your desire to help others. We want to encourage you to always remain vigilant and be wary of any emails, phone calls, and other communications you receive requesting your personal information. Always remember that we will never ask for your personal information, and you can always call us if you question the validity of the request. If you receive an unexpected, questionable call from someone claiming to be a Centra representative, you are always welcome to hang up and call us at 800-232-3642.
Along with sharing ways to avoid scams from fraudsters and providing prevention products like Mastercard’s enhanced ID theft protection, we also have a dedicated fraud department that is available for further investigations. Our Members are our priority, and we want you to know that you are safe and sound with Centra.
