November 2023: A letter from the President

Dear Members,

In my letters this year, I’ve celebrated many achievements with you. From opening two new locations to receiving yet another 5-star Bauer rating, we’ve had a lot of excitement in 2023. While we’re nearing the end of the year, our team is still hard at work. I’m proud to announce that your Credit Union has been recognized with a few more awards.

Last month, the Indiana Credit Union League (ICUL) awarded Centra with first place in the judging for both the Alphonse Desjardins Award for Adult Financial Literacy and the Dora Maxwell Award for Social Responsibility. During the awards ceremony, Centra SVP Operations Amanda Edwards was also recognized as an emerging leader, a distinction given to only three credit union leaders across the state of Indiana each year. I’ve enjoyed watching Amanda’s career progress since she joined Centra as a teller 22 years ago, and this recognition is well-deserved.

In addition to the ICUL awards, Centra was also recognized by our cybersecurity partner Fortra. Fortra’s Digital Defense works with more than 1,400 clients and recognized the top 27 organizations in 2022. I’m proud to share that Centra was one of the few organizations selected for the Excellence in Network Security award. This is a high distinction and recognizes the tireless efforts of Centra’s Information Technology team to ensure the highest level of network security for your Credit Union.

While we’re honored to receive these awards, we’re also looking forward to the future with our new partnership with NorthPark Community Credit Union. When NorthPark joins the Centra team, we’ll preserve their Onward financial outreach and inclusion efforts as a new department in the Credit Union. Several NorthPark Team Members will focus on providing financial education and empowerment to the Communities we serve, especially the unserved and underserved in those communities.

Finally, with the holidays comes the season of giving, which includes the return of the Centra Foundation Holiday Giving Program on November 20. Each year, I’m awed by the generosity of Centra’s Members and Team Members.
