May 2025: A letter from the President

Estimados diputados,

As we enter the second quarter of the year, I wanted to take a moment to discuss some exciting updates within our organization, as well as an important reminder from the credit union space.

First, I wanted to talk about the return of Centra Foundation’s Pay It Forward program. This initiative empowers our Team Members to give back to their communities in meaningful and creative ways. Each team receives $500 to use toward a cause or project close to their hearts, whether it’s supporting local schools, helping families in need, or improving neighborhood spaces. This program is a direct reflection of our vision of value creation, not just through quality financial services, but through real, personal impact in our Communities.

Next, we recently held our annual meeting to reflect on our 2024 fiscal year, and we’re pleased to report another strong year for our credit union. The continued stability and strength of our organization is a testament to the trust you place in us and the dedication of our incredible Team Members. If you weren’t able to attend, a recording of the meeting will be made available on Centra.org soon.

As we look ahead, our focus on digital engagement continues to be a top priority. We’re thrilled to welcome Joshua Yates, our new Vice President of Digital Experience Strategy and Delivery. Joshua has 25 years of experience within the software development space, and we’re excited to see how he’ll help shape the continued advancements in our digital banking services, making them easier and more convenient for your everyday banking needs.

Next, I wanted to pivot for a moment and highlight our mission-driven line of business Onward. The Onward team continues to make a meaningful impact, having served more than 4,000 individuals this past year through financial education, empowerment, and coaching. In addition to their efforts, the Onward team and other teams within Centra have begun working with local businesses to provide their employees with financial education through a program called Centra at Work. One recent example of this is our partnership with Columbus Regional Hospital where our Onward team will provide financial education resources to CRH employees. If your organization or business is interested in working with us, please connect with our Onward team for more information.

Lastly, I want to close out this letter by reminding you of an important issue that impacts not only credit unions, but our valuable Members like you. As you may know, there have been recent efforts to impose new taxes on credit unions. These taxes would directly impact the financial products and services you use from Centra, or any other credit union. I strongly encourage you to reach out to your representatives and urge them to oppose any legislation that would tax credit unions. Your voice matters, and together we can protect what makes credit unions a great place to bank.

Thank you for your continued trust and Membership in Centra.

Atentamente,
Rick A. Silvers
