Three Steps To Organizing Your Bills

Organizing your bills

Bills just never ever go away. In fact, Sometimes it feels like they’re flooding in and there’s no way to keep them all straight. But, if you don’t have a good system for keeping them organized and getting them paid, you could end up in an even bigger mess than just having unpaid bills. Consider implementing this strategy for getting your bills paid and keeping them organized:

  • Set up Online BillPayer. BillPayer is a feature of Online and Mobile Banking. With BillPayer, you can set up recurring payments, so you don’t even have to think about paying those routine bills, like credit card and student loan payments.
  • Use automatic withdrawal for routine bills that vary month to month. BillPayer isn’t the best option for bills like water and electricity that vary in amounts month to month. However, since you know they’re going to come each month, just go ahead and ask your utility companies to pull the money out of your account automatically at the same time each month. This way, you’ll never forget to pay a utility bill and risk getting shut off and a ding on your credit report.
  • Make a habit of opening bills and putting the due date on your calendar. I’ll be reminded when you need to pay it. If you don’t have a smart phone, write the due date on your calendar and make sure to check your calendar frequently.

After you set up Centra’s BillPayer feature and set up automatic withdrawal for the bills you can’t use BillPayer for, you shouldn’t have many bills left to worry about. Implementing a calendar system should be the final step in ensuring your bills get paid on time.
